RUSSIA TRIES TO BOMB AMERICA?
I made reference in my last article about how our western media feeds us a spin on international events. The major media outlets seem like channels for Government propaganda, particularly when that Government is American.
Take today's news that the US military intercepted two Russian bombers in international airspace off Alaska's coast, according to a Pentagon spokesman. It's a bland piece that tells us that two F-22 Raptor aircraft intercepted the Russian TU-95 Bear bombers on Monday, said navy commander Gary Ross. The Raptors are state of the art jet fighters and probably the best around today. The TU-95 Bear was first made the year I was born, 1956, it's propeller driven and it is a big slow cumbersome antique.
The incident, if was that, took place in international airspace where both the Raptors and the Bears have every right to be. Furthermore, up there in the Bering Strait, the distance between America and Russia is a mere twenty-five miles. The Soviets back in the cold war converted several of their Bears for surveillance work but from the tone of the news reporting we received, you could be forgiven for thinking the nasty Russians were probing American defenses with a view to a bomb run if nobody was at home.
The sad looking TU-95 Bear was the Russian response to the B-52 bomber the Yanks had in the fifties and you can see them both here for relative comparison. This lad here though, the Ruskie Tupolev Tu-22M, would be the one to worry the Yanks because they'd do well to even see that coming. But those really dangerous bombers are never deployed to annoy America unnecessarily. A few of them are bombing the shit out of ISIS in Syria however.
So what is the point of this non-news item? Is public opinion in the West being softened up to believe the Russians are provoking America into action? Are we being gently led to the conclusion that Russia is the aggressor? Are we being prepared for a justification by America for the next unilateral action she chooses to take in her own interests. I don't know, but if that's what this non-news item is 'not' about then I can't see any useful purpose for it. NATO jets routinely buzz Russian defenses along the borders of Eastern Europe and Asia without violating its airspace and it isn't worth a mention anywhere here.
So I dislike being mis-led and I hate being hyped up about nothing at all. But I truly loathe being softened up to accept the unacceptable on the basis of relentless lies and spin. I fell for weapons of mass destruction once but never again. It's a dangerous world right now without the whole thing blowing up for all the wrong reasons.
We'd better all sit up and look closer at what we're being told.
