MANUFACTURING A HOUSING CRISIS – WHY? — 2 Comments

  1. I was reading in the paper that a farm in one of the best area’s of the country was selling at 12,000 euros an acre. Therefore if a builder can get ten houses on an acre at 57,000 per house, this comes out at 570,000 an acre. I would guess that a lot of very wealthy people are making fortunes hoarding land and zoning decisions

    • The twelve grand an acre means it was not selling as agricultural land. The revelations in the nineties and noughties regarding the untraceable cash in brown envelopes in return for re-zoning of agricultural land for developers is now legendary. It is all really, a rich man’s trick, while the rest of us pay for it. The system is, and has always been, rigged in favour of the “insiders.” That’s bad enough but when those leeches take the high moral ground and view the rest of us as dispensable losers who are stupid for paying the high prices they impose, that’s when my blood boils.
