Control Restricters

I have long ago lost all respect for politicians and my view of them now ranges between amazement at them or hatred for them.

A local lassie from a big political dynasty in Cork got her foot in the door of National politics much like her Father and grandfather before her by becoming Lord Mayor of Cork. She is now an MEP in the rarefied air of Brussels and I suspect that her ego is interfering with her brain function.

The Journal this afternoon reports that, "New technology that can restrict the speed of cars should be introduced in all new cars, according to Fine Gael Ireland South MEP Deirdre Clune." Has the bimbo fuck all else to be thinking about?

Years ago when Saab introduced turbo-chargers on their cars there were a whole host of crashes attributed to them. The turbo was mostly used when overtaking and the sudden unexpected acceleration led many drivers to rocket into the rear of the car they were trying to pass.

A speed restricter would have the opposite effect I suggest. Having accelerated and pulled out to pass you could find yourself level with the other guy but on the wrong side of the road and the restricter decides that's as fast as you are going. When learning to drive all those years ago I was told emphatically that when overtaking, forget speed limits and go like hell to get safely back on your own side as quickly as possible. A head-on is the single worst thing that can happen in a car.

But our MEP Deirdre probably has a chauffeur and doesn't need to consider such mundane things. Politicians of all hues depress me and after I'd read this shit agout
 speed restricters from her
, the only thing I could think was that she has shares in the restricter company and stands to line her own pockets, as is the tradition with these leeches.

But I don't doubt that there's a strong chance we will see the stupid things made compulsory under EU law some time soon.
